In this course we will cover:

- How to stretch and prepare a canvas

- Basic color theory

- Complimentary color under-painting methods

- Using brushwork and glazing to create depth

-How to see your subject

Brushwork is a key  element to a great technical painting.    It can be used to tell the viewer what to focus on.  When we view a subject in life,  our brain focuses on what is important and allows the rest to blur.  This is how we should also paint.   When we try to include everything, we give the viewer too much information.  In this two day workshop, we will learn how to see and include what is important.  We will also cover how to blend and layer colors to create  desired effects.  We will start by learning how to stretch and prepare an 18"x 24" canvas, which we will use to create an original acrylic painting. Students will be guided through demos as well as step by step color photos of the sample painting depicting how it was created.
